Retroshare linux6/4/2023 Also the visual comparison that lets me skim to make sure things should be running as they should is just a nice little quality of life detail.įor general automated backup system of my desktop and laptop is Duplicati An automated backup system that can send backups in lots of different remote ways. There are more fancy features but that's all I really use it for as I have an external HDD that I use to keep my photo library on and after a shoot I dump all the images onto it, then sync the drive to my server which does all the backing up in background for me. FreeFileSync does all the things you'd expect, Local files & SSH remote files. This has happened a few times and having to reread the documentation for a terminal command gets old after the 2nd time. "Is recursive -r or -R.wait why are there both -a and -A in here too?" Now if you need something more manual for syncing or manual I can recommend FreeFileSync it's pretty much Rsync in GUI form which I like, you can also save sync jobs and name them so when you open up a job it's options easily readable rather than trying to remember what the long list of option commands. Setup was really easy and wish I found this bit of software sooner! And while you don't need a server, I run an instance of syncthing on my server anyway to be a kind of 2nd hand back up. I could declare different folders to sync and the big bonus, it's something I could self host, you don't even need a central server to self host either, it's peer to peer so no middle man bits, just need two computer you want to sync a folder, or folders to. I did find Syncthing and it fit everything I needed and wanted perfectly. Nothing inherently wrong with how Dropbox worked it just didn't give me enough granular control over what I wanted, for general single folder sync, would of been perfect. I tried to use Dropbox for a while as Google's Drive was not something I was interested in as I've been slowly removing google bits from my digital day to day. The desktop and laptop have general files to keep in sync with all of them but I do want things like Joplin to be able to sync to all three. Next part I should talk about is syncing files among machines, I have a desktop, laptop and a phone. It's a very useful bit of software if you're going to write a large novel, it helps you keep track of a lot of information and stay organized. Novelwriter Side info for novelwriter, if you're on Windows the easiest way to install it is to install python3 with PATH enabled in setup then in powershell execute pip install novelWriter Linux land in terminal run sudo apt install python-3 and then pip3 install novelWriter Simplenote note keeping app that you need an account to sync, uses markdown but I never used that bit. Other notable text writing programs would be:įocuswriter Good for distraction free writing. There really isn't to much more to say about it other than it's handy for keeping a ton of information and/or writing, easy to sync with just about anything. It also works on my phone so I'm able to check and edit things else where. Before this I used Simplenote and while it also has markdown functionality, it's hosted by someone else and I was looking to move as much as possible to self hosting. There is also a webclips addon that while I haven't used very much, the few times it's been very handy for quickly capturing information from web pages. Quickly making lists, writing these reports or writing down technical information that requires sections to be marked as code. Very top of my useful bit of software is Joplin It's a markdown editor that I use for pretty much anything involving text in some form or another. For everyone else that enjoys some ramble, read on! The Web interface is only accessible from localhost (127.0.0.1).This report will have a tidy list of all of the software posted at the bottom if you want to quickly peruse through. Note that if you changed the port in the JSonAPI preferences pages, the port in this line needs to be changed accordingly. Open your browser to localhost:9092/index.html. If everything goes ok, you should see a new token "webui:" in the In any case, clock on "Apply settings" after editing this page. If necessary, point the "Web interface directory" to the place where the webui files areĬompiled.

In these chapters Hogarth illustrates the effects of these different kinds of light on a variety of subjects - faces, figures, landscapes, still lifes – and examines both natural and artificial light sources. He then shows how the silhouette is transformed into three dimensions with the addition of minimal light – the highlight.įollowing these introductory chapters, the author devotes a separate chapter to each of the five basic categories of light and shade: single–source light double-source light flat, diffused light moonlight and sculptural light. Hogarth begins with the simplest kind of light and shade, showing how a dark silhouette on white paper can communicate form and space. Here is the first book on this essential subject, the product of years of study by one of the world's great teachers of drawing and an artist of international renown, Burne Hogarth, author of four other art instruction classics on drawing. “Mastery of light and shade – rendered with accuracy and expressive power – is the key to three-dimensional form in drawing and painting.

Warhammer darktide6/4/2023 I'm just hoping that my dear Barbara will like, develop the ability to pop several heads at once? To be honest, I feel like powering up is quite a slow affair, or maybe there's a menu I haven't discovered yet. I thought she'd be quite cool, but it turns out that she can only pop one head every two seconds? I do like my hefty laser pistol, though. I, too, don't have one because the game's loot system is time-padding garbage.Įd: Just popping in to say that I'm playing as a Psyker-person called Barbara who's like this telekinetic witch. I, too, wish I had a good one for my own Veteran Sharpshooter. Shout out to the merchant lady from Space Bristol.)Īlice0: By the Emperor, that boltgun! In a game full of chunky, finicky weapons which ooze personality with every rattle and jump, the boltgun truly is a wonder. (Some cracking British and Irish accents in this, by the way. It looks, feels and sounds like a WW2 railway gun, and the only thing I don’t like about it is that better versions so rarely pop up in the randomised loot shop. But you can give him a Boltgun, the most mechanically devastating firearm in the game. The least mechanically interesting class in the game? Perhaps. But my primary lad is a permanently bemused, if hardly shouting-averse Veteran Sharpshooter. James: Wonder if he’s related to my own Yorkshire Ogryn. And whose chunky grenade launcher fires such big grenades that enemies die simply from the impact of getting clunked in the face, let alone the explosion which will clear up their pals after donking off their forehead. It rarely feels like I’m just swing, swing, swinging, unless I have a new Power Sword I want to try out.Īlice0: Who’s your main herbert? I adore my big Ogryn lad from Yorkshire whose greatest hope is that he’ll do murder well enough to earn an extra-big dinner when he gets home. I think it might be because Darktide strikes a finer balance of slicing and shooting? Like there’s more of a dynamism to horde fights when you’re switching between the two. Nope – I’m 22 hours in and not even close to abandoning interest in my greasy crew of Imperial screwups. James: I was actually braced to bounce off this, in the same way I bounced off Vermintide 2 and its monotonously melee-focused ratman slaughter. The verdict? Uninspiring progression systems and short, repetitive missions aside, Darktide still remains a bone-crunching gorefest best enjoyed with pals. Several of the RPS Treehouse folk have jumped into the fray, carving their way through Darktide’s industrial world of Gothic factories and towering cathedrals. It’s a grisly co-op multiplayer where instead of brawling your way through torrents of gross rat humanoids, you and your rag-tag team are now up against hordes of scabby zombies all in favour of a Imperial fascist overlord. Fatshark’s spiritual follow-up to Vermintide and Vermintide 2 is ferocious, violent, and involves a whole lotta gore. Warhammer 40,000: Darktide is not for the squeamish. Fatshark’s bone-crunching co-op is deliciously gory and grim, but an uninspiring progression system and short, repetitive missions hold this Vermintide successor back from reaching peak rampage.

Other components include the police who are embodied in the character of Officer Hardass. Imp doom eternal6/4/2023 You can shoot its mace when it charges it up, causing its armour to fly off in a manner reminiscent of Ghosts ’n Goblins, but you can also destroy its armour with sustained fire from the Plasma Rifle and you can prevent that armour from regenerating with the mighty Sentinel Hammer.īut the good times end here because the Riot Soldiers are everything wrong about The Ancient Gods: a re-skin of an existing enemy with very few options available when it comes to killing them. And the good times keep on going because I’m also fond of the Armoured Baron since again you can employ a number of tactics against it. This gives you moments of glorious, cathartic violence as you continuously mow them down without the worry of running out of ammo, all while keeping in mind to dodge their attacks as they roll around at the speed of sound, much like the demonic blue hedgehog himself. But the most encouraged (and fun) way is to use the Combat Shotgun’s Full Auto mod, and what makes it work is that every time you shoot a Stone Imp with the shotgun you receive shotgun ammo. Next on the list is the Stone Imp and I actually kind of enjoy this enemy simply because you have a number of ways to destroy it. Even a possessed demon has little chance against me when I go into the options and turn the difficulty way down. The act of firing untold bullets into a possessed Hell Baron while constantly having to back-peddled becomes tiresome quickly, and nightmarish when they have you in a corner. Spirits can possess other demons to give them a boost to their defence, but what really makes possessed demons such a pain in the arse is the fact they can’t be stunned, frozen or have their weak point destroyed, hugely limiting your options against them. Now we get to the Spirits, and this is when I started to develop a frowny face when playing. You simply wait until its you-can’t-kill-me-now shield goes down and then summarily blow its head clean off. The Blood Maykr is a little more interesting and it’s the type of angelic opponent I thought we’d be seeing a lot more of in the expansion, but it suffers from being far too easy to vanquish. And of course they are mostly placed in locations that make it very hard to dodge their fire, forcing you to take cover and pop out to fire off a few quick shots, the very thing that modern Doom is supposed be a reprieve from. And Ancient Gods shows you that it isn’t exactly going to blow your socks off when the first brand new foe is a turret, but it is a turret that will annoyingly hide if you aim at it for too long, and flirtatiously only reveal itself if you look the other way for a second or two. It’s a problem that crops up more in the first part of The Ancient Gods than it does in the second, which mercifully gives you some larger areas to battle in.īut let’s get into the meaty centre and examine the enemies introduced in the expansion. Fighting a Marauder in a room that could be charitably considered cozy is not enjoyable when every three-seconds you’re getting caught on one of the fodder zombies, which need to be there so you have a source of health and ammo. There is sometimes an air of amateur with Ancient Gods, resembling those fan made levels in which the maker decided to cram in enemies by the boat load because they mistakenly thought increasing the difficulty always increases the fun (also known as the Dark Souls 2 mentality). Demons are packed everywhere and usually in very confined places, including one where a Cyber Demon fruitlessly fires upwards with all its rockets hitting the low ceiling in the process. The first level of the first part takes place on a facility in the middle of a stormy ocean, and it wastes no time in throwing as many baddies at you as possible to illustrate that it is indeed not fucking around. As you likely know by now if you’ve played The Ancient Gods, it is extremely hard, and it isn’t always hard in a fun way. So obviously Eternal’s expansion The Ancient Gods would provide more of that sweet, bloody goodness the main game so lovingly bestowed on us – well, kind of. It is almost like the enemies’ attacks are built around being able to evade quickly and removing that ability would be a stupid idea – more on that later. Weaving back and forth between demons with the dash alone provided a sense of almost Devil May Cry style and allowed the developers to racket up the speed of battle. While some prefer the satisfyingly simple combat of the prior game, I would hold up Doom Eternal’s monster slaying as superior. Examining the terrors of The Ancient Gods expansion.ĭoom Eternal was a fantastic evolution of the Murder Gras that was Doom 2016, focussing more on resource management and exploiting enemy weaknesses, it tasked the player to put greater thought into their demon killing.

Quickdraw pass 26/4/2023 There's also a massive +20 XP per kill for turning off auto-aim in the settings, though obviously it's harder to get kills this way without the game meeting you halfway.Īs well as headshots, if you pick up a bow and arrow from the handheld catalogue, this particular weapon will afford you extra XP just for using it. Headshots net you double XP, so get used to pulling up the right stick just a tad whenever you’re in a shootout. Regular kills will net you 5 XP, but there are a lot of extra factors and ‘kill types’ that you can use to bolster that number.Īlways aim for the head. Sure, it’s a good laugh to let the train plow into the hogtied criminals, but think of the Litchfield Repeater coming in your next level up, would you? Weapons and methodologyĪ lot of XP can be earned outside of main missions, but you have to know how to make this as efficient as possible. The experimental online honor system factors into your XP too, so being a good egg is worth 100-300 more points during the arbitrary choice sections of the story missions. Less deaths, quicker pace and clean kills net everybody more XP, so work together for the greater good! If you’ve managed to wrangle a posse of friends together, make sure to communicate properly and figure out the kinks in each mission, much like you would with GTA Online’s heists. Simply navigate to the ‘Story Mission’ section of the progress tab in the main menu and select the mission you want to replay. Only one member of your Posse will have to have completed it for everyone to benefit. It’s full of enemies to farm and pays dividends on your first attempt, with a similarly solid amount available to those who choose to return. The final mission ‘Kill Them, Each And Every One’ is particularly lucrative. Story missions ply you with a decent wad of points each time, plus a number of perks like treasure maps and money that you can use to make other XP grinding methods easier. Replaying said missions after the fact is also a very reliable means to grind XP. Remember folks, camaraderie is a good way to mitigate the crushing grind! Finish the story (and then replay it)įairly self explanatory, but it’s worth knowing that finishing the story mode is the best way to level up easily when you’re starting out. Reviving and assisting your posse pals, hell, even just spending hours in a posse means awards and level ups for you and your gang, so you might as well do it together. As we know, awards mean more than just fancy gold belt buckles - they net you valuable XP, with 500 for full completion. Even if you just want to explore and hunt on your own, it can’t hurt to be part of a posse and reap the benefits of it whilst you're playing.įor a start, there is an entire section of awards catered to players who are posse partial. It’s hit or miss whether communication will be worth it depending on who you match up with, but by just merely being in a posse you’re opening yourself up to more XP.īeing part of a posse lets you invade other events and turn the tides depending on your honor, and in general, more activities are available if you’re running with a group of outlaws. If you don’t have any pals who play, just choose ‘Posse Up’ from the online menu and the game will match you in with a group of strangers. Grab some friends and join up together as part of a temporary squadron whilst you’re roaming and completing missions - if you’ve got a dedicated set of friends, it might even be worth shelling out for a permanent posse. Everything is a little bit more efficient if you’re part of a Red Dead Online posse.

Tineco pure one s116/4/2023 You should clean it after every use with a damp cloth. You can remove it by opening the dustbin door and then twisting it counterclockwise within its housing. Mesh Filter: The mesh filter is located inside the dustbin. If the sensor does come in contact with water, the manufacturer advises drying it out with a hair dryer. Make sure not to wash the dustbin under running water, as there's a dirt sensor on the inside. It can be wiped out with a damp cloth whenever necessary, but it can be a little tricky to fit your fingers around the center-mounted filter housing. You can also completely detach it from the main body by pressing the switch under the trigger. Dust and debris can also get caught on the gasket around the dustbin door, so make sure not to dirty your clothes when opening it up.
